Michael Kaine has been fighting for the rights of road transport and aviation workers for over 25 years. He started out as an organiser for owner drivers, concrete drivers and couriers, and went on to lead the NSW branch’s legal team.
Michael has been an elected leader of the TWU for 20 years. First as NSW Assistant Secretary, then National Assistant Secretary, and has been National Secretary for 8 years. Under Michael’s leadership, TWU members have built Australia’s strongest union.
Michael is known and respected in the global union movement, the halls of parliament, and across the road transport and aviation industries. With Michael leading the TWU, some of the biggest companies in the country, like Coles, Woolworths, Qantas, Virgin and Uber, have been forced to pay up and take responsibility for the lives of workers in road transport and aviation.
Michael’s dedication to TWU members and the union’s strategy to lift standards for all transport workers is unmatched.
